1st Annual Plywood Cup

The first ever Plywood Cup Challenge was held in Regina on Sunday July 24, 2005 during the Pile O'Bones day. This event took place in front of the Legislative building on the south shore of Wascana lake. The building of the boats started at 1 PM and the race took place at 3 PM.

The object of this event is for teams of four to build a boat with a limited amount of materials and time and have one member of the team race the boat out to a marker and back to shore.

All of the proceeds of this event went to the RaiseAReader program and the Pediatric Outpatient Unit at Regina General Hospital.

[plywood cup page 2] Nearly 15,000 people pack the banks of Wascana Lake to watch the 13 teams race their plywood boat from one side to the other.

The team from Rick's Custom Cabinets were able to successfully row their plywood boat across the lake to capture first place, winning the famous plywood cup trophy.

Thanks to everyone that participated and we hope to see you out again next year.
