FUNDRAISING EVENTS
The events listed below are planned on an annual basis. New events are added when the opportunity presents itself and additional charities are considered when resources allow.
Charity Auction Our main charity is the Camp Circle O’ Friends. Each year we solicit donations from the business community and offer these at a dinner featuring both a live and silent auction. Funds raised are donated to Camp Circle O' Friends and other charities are considered if resources permit.
Plywood Cup Teams of four build a boat with a limited amount of materials and time and have one member of the team race the boat across Wascana Lake. Team members are asked to solicit pledges on behalf of their team. All of the proceeds were donated to the Raise-A-Reader program and the Pediatric Outpatient Unit at Regina General Hospital.
Comedy Night Funds raised through our Comedy Night held at Casino Regina go to support the ‘hot meal’ program of the Regina Public School Board and the Regina Catholic School Board. This program provides hot lunches to the inner city area schools and community centres.
Girl Guides of Canada We sponsor the bingos operated by the Girl Guides of Saskatchewan. The funds raised are helping them to pay the mortgage and make improvements to their headquarters building in Regina.
Gopper Golf Tournament Every year we host the Gopper Golf Tournament in memory of former member Kevin Agopsowicz. The funds raised at this event will be used to make improvements to the facilities at Camp Circle O’Friends.
Poker Night Casino Regina offers charitable organizations the opportunity to sponsor a charity poker night. The club was responsible for selling the tickets with a portion of the ticket sales going to a designated charity. Our club sold tickets to club members and guests on what turned out to be a great venture.
Our designated charity was the Wheelchair Basketball program at the Wascana Hospital gym. This will allow a new youngster who must rely on a wheelchair for their mobility to enjoy the pleasures of playing an organized sport once a week during the winter season.
Special Olympics On a national level Canadian Progress Clubs proudly support Canadian Special Olympics through the Canadian Progress Charitable Foundation. Our club is proud to be a banner sponsor of the Foundation.
We would like to thank the Regina Business Community for all their support over the years!
